I've seen peoples catching them by hands, there's even tournaments
if someone caught that beast, a team would be missing at the end of the day

Ya I have seen that in the rivers down south. Never really interested me, sticking your hand in a hole when there could be a lot more than a catfish in it. Snapping turtles come to mind.

Welcome back George.

I go by the name Tabby. But I do know that cat. A bunch of us all live in the same neighborhood.

Stumbled upon this thread now I wanna go fishing!

I used to go fishing for northern pike when I was younger when I lived in Michigan, it was a blast.
Haven't been fishing good like that since I moved to TX just shoreline stuff.

Yes we have excellent pike fishing here. Spearing them through the ice is my favorite way to get pike and muskie. It's just more of a rush to me, much like shooting carp with a bow and arrow or lassoing alligator garpike. That's something I have to get a video of this summer if I remember is lassoing an alligator garpike, its a pretty neat technique where u catch them on a slip knot basically lassoing their top beak since hooks dont really penetrate that hard mouth of theirs.

I'm in california.

It was amazing times... I stopped taking trips to clear lake, the delta, etc.. because this place was a 5 min drive from my house.

Id just load up the kayak and go.

I might try it out tomorrow and see how it goes, it touched like 70 degrees today.. but i still think it might be a little too cold.

where in California?

im in the south bay area

this would prob be illegal in UK lol carp is pretty expensive fish, iv heard that people who own fishing farms for commercial fishing pay like £100-300 per decent size one ( thats 150-450$ )

when we catch carp here we toss them up the shore and let them die. they are an invasive species and take over the ponds and lakes and kill off the natives

fuck them

Didn't get a picture at the time, because I had no idea what I was in store for.
It was just another day of fishing for me, a young boy from Ohio. I had moved to mid northeastern (Shawano) Wisconsin in the late fall/early winter.
The following spring I went fishing with a kid I had met in school and his dad, to the Red River.
Not being from the area and naive,I had only thought we would catch some bass, trout, pan fish, or the likes. When what 45 minutes later turns out to be a 37" 17 lbs Sturgeon on the line. I was so excited, it's the biggest fish I had ever caught, to this day.
I had to release it though. At the time they were still an endangered species (circa 1993). Imagine my dismay.
Victory and defeat all in one catch.
