I own 460 acres, and there is state land for literally miles around where I live. I let people bring whatever they can carry and we just go out walking in the woods until we get tired and set up a base camp and go from there. I know most of the area around here, so I let someone in the group lead the way and we basically go blind hiking, and turn it into this is how we are going to make due with what we have. I show them how to figure out directions using the trees and the sun, what kind of edible plants there are in the area we end up in, primitive fishing techniques for fish or crayfish or whatever presents itself, and basic fire starting and shelter building. It's pretty fun actually, once you get used to it.

Cool, now all you need is the boat and your golden! I'm hosting my first 3 day survival guided trip next week. I'm taking 4 people out from June 8th until the 11th, to teach them wilderness survival techniques. I'll try to get some pictures/video of primitive fishing techniques I teach. You gotta love people paying you to torture them basically. Well I don't torture them, but mother nature sure does. It's so funny seeing some of them trying to eat some of the stuff we find. I end up with a lot of vegetarians on the first day, especially if we don't get any fish, but by day 3 they are eating fried rabbit/squirrel/whatever we snare on a stick and loving it.
That sounds like a blast man! I'm envious haha.
Makes me think of Survivorman/Les Stroud - love watching that show.
I've always wanted to go on an excursion similar to what you're talking about, seriously sounds like it would be quite the experience. I know basic wilderness survival techniques and wanna put them to the test sometime
