Russell is a fine pick.

Early in the draft I had a choice between Butler and Griffin and went with Griffin. If I went Butler I would've had

PG: CP3/Rondo
SG: Butler/Jrue
SF: Crowder/Iggy
PF: Horford/Tristan Thompson
C: Whiteside/RoLo

instead of my current

PG: CP3/Rondo
SG: Beal/Jrue
SF: Crowder/Iggy
PF: Griffin/Tristan Thompson
C: Whiteside/RoLo

It would've been sexy but I think maybe insufficient 3-point shooting. Beal is basically the role of Klay on my team and replacing him with a slasher would ruin the continuity and balance.

Which do you guys prefer? Just curious.

Pretty close yeah

No way I could, especially the players in their 30s.

i think your defense would be better, but your three point shooting would be worse. crowder, horford, and cp3 would spread the floor pretty well though, and butler can hit threes at a decent rate, he just doesn't very often.

overall i think butler is better than griffin and would have been a better selection, but your team is fine the way it is.

what do you guys think about capela? i couldn't believe he was still on the board tbh, i think he's gonna blow up next year w/o howard. he's young and his per 36 minute stats are nice.

I think Griffin is pretty significantly better than Butler when we consider a 3-year trajectory, but the difference is that SG is an extremely shallow position and the difference between Butler and Beal is comparable to the difference between Giffin and Horford.

I really don't like Butler's game though and don't like his fit so I feel like I made the right choice, just was curious what others think.

I wouldn't say significantly.

Griffin hasn't really improved much over the past few years, whereas Butler has gotten better pretty much every season, especially between 13-14 and 14-15.

Butler is the better defender, Griffin is more valuable offensively.
I think when you consider the depth of their positions Butler is more valuable overall.

But I understand not liking his game and how he fits with your team.
