Ibaka 3 years ago was vastly better, but like others have said, Ibaka has fallen off hard

I'd still take him over Ibaka, just because his shooting ability is extra valuable in the 3-era, but Monroe isn't much worse.

Idk, I think Ibaka developing a 3-point shot hindered his game more than helped it. If you add a new tool to your arsenal, to use it you have to use it at the loss of another part of your game. He basically does less of what he's best at with mediocre 3-pt shooting

Bogut was a good pick btw.

I don't think being more well-rounded ever hurts. If he excessively uses the new skill and it's less efficient it may hurt, but strictly just being able to do it doesn't hurt him.

Yes you're right. It's not the acquisition of 3-pt shooting that's the problem, it's that he uses that skill in-game.

Or perhaps overuses it when he would be better served passing/driving/posting, it is helpful in some situations, just overused.

Bogut should have gone earlier. One of the best rim protectors in the NBA and a good passer.

As always, the concern is injuries. He's had problems his whole career and in 3 years he could be almost done. Of course he is a bench big behind Gobert for haras, but the injury stuff is still there. Same with Ryan Anderson.

I went with Biyombo over Bogut. It was a tough choice for me. Bogut is better on offense and a better rim protector but Biyombo is better going forward IMO and can handle more minutes. Still has room to improve whereas Bogut is on way down. Even if you looked at what he did this season he can only handle increasingly less.

I thought Biyombo was overhyped but then I looked at his synergy stats and drooled. Excellent rebounder too. Reminds me of a young Ben Wallace. Wont be that good of course but he can fill a similar role for a team.

Almost forgot how old Bogut is. Yeah given his age and injury profile that seems about right.

Personally, don't see the hype with Biyombo. He doesn't even get precedence over Jonas Valanciunas who isn't even that good. Biyombo IMO is at best an average bench rotation player on an average team.

I don't agree with the comparison to Ben Wallace at all. Ben Wallace had a much different defensive profile. He was overwhelmingly better and more versatile, getting steals at 3x the rate of Biyombo and capable of guarding a far wider range of players. Biyombo is exclusively a rim protector. Ben Wallace was at least an acceptable passer, making him less of an offensive liability than Biyombo who has absolutely no passing ability and commits more turnovers despite getting 1/3 as many assists. Biyombo is a better rebounder, as expected, and a more efficient shooter, though an overall less efficient offensive player.

Really their only similarities to me are their flaws: abysmal FT shooting, barely used on offense.

Reminds me much more of a far less talented Tyson Chandler or far far less talented DeAndre Jordan. Or maybe a less talented young Brendan Haywood.

Not dissing your pick, just my opinion.
