Look at individual countries, not continents. In Africa's richest country, soccer isn't even number two.

oh i AM looking at countries. and most 1st world countries play football (soccer) and don't give a crap about american football / baseball.
those facts were just for the retard who claimed that south america is far more populated than europe. it was HIS point...

Hockey, although I like both sports.

Most people are turned off by hockey because they can't play it, and no matter how hard they try they'd never be able to develop a skill that isn't natural like running, jumping, etc. But most of the people I have gotten to try hockey out have loved it.

And as far as people saying hockey isn't popular in America is pretty ignorant, I have about 50 rinks within the upper half of Illinois alone.

Viewing numbers are more important than playing. Besides, you make generally assumptions about continents. In Asia, the big rich countries play baseball (Japan, Taiwan, South Korea), in Europe, there's many countries which are more famous for their hockey than their soccer (Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia), and of course the USA and Canada would watch hockey over soccer easily. In the Carribbean, baseball and cricket is more important, in South Africa, India, Australia you've got cricket combined with some 1B sports.

American Football is a regional sport. It's only greatly popular in the US (Might gain some more populairty if the NFL expands to London and Mexico city but there's not much more prospects than that).

Yeh because those countries cant afford football pads.
Why do you think soccer is so big in poor countries? All you need is a ball and a hand made net.

You mean the one where you need absolutely no skill whatsoever.  All you need to be is fat and big and follow the play? No individual thinking whatsoever?  Where 90% of the players dont even get to touch the ball? Where out of those 60 minutes you only see about 5 mins of action? Where after everyplay, the team can argue a call and change the decision of the ref?

No thanks on handegg. Hockey is better.

so innacurate and foolish

Soccer only big in african and south american 3rd world countries?

Lets take a look at the medalists in the last world championship tournaments:

2010:

1. Spain (europe)
2. Netherlands (europe)
3. Germany (europe)

2006:

1. Italy (europe)
2. France (europe)
3. Germany (europe)

And the medal trio will be from europe in 2014 and after that also, because great south american soccer nations from the past (Brazil, Argentina) cant compete anymore vs. europeans.
