Going Bass/Trout fishing the 18th/19th/20th of oct, in Quebec!

Gonna be nice and cold out on the lake.

This is my first fishing trip, and Im looking for a little help.

I know people always say dont shop at Canadian Tire, but I dont understand why, from what Ive been told, the rod quality is fine as long as you dont buy the crappy 40$ rods. (Looking to spend about 100$ on my rod).

Either way, what would you recommend as a rod? (I can order online as long as I do so this week).

Going to Canadian Tire tonight to check out what they have, would love to buy my rod if theres one they have that would be ok.

Also looking for some Bass/Trout tips/tricks if anyone has.

Bass and trout are two totally different setups. I'd go with two cheap ones instead of one more pricey rod. I'm not a fan of baitcasters, so if I was going with an all around bass rod, I would be looking for Medium power / Fast or Extra Fast action / 6 to 6.5 feet / spinning reel with 150 yard 10lb braid capacity and I like the entire setup (rod/reel/line) to weight less than a pound. My jig pole weighs 8.8 ounces.

where are you going to fish?

for bass/trout fishing, i'd also recommand a medium 6'6 medium x-fast action
i also recommand you going to sail, a Professional outdoor sport store ...canadiantire rods are manipulated by alot of people and you may get a domaged rod without knowing it..also most of their rod are cheap, even the 100$ set up..i'd buy a rod if they are on sell, they are often at 40-60% off, then it is Worth buying them as long as u take time to make sure your rod is ok
sail ppl are pro fisherman and they will give you the best advice on what to use, how to use it and they will build you the best possible set up with what u have as budget
i've learned alot going there and listening to their advices

if u have enough budget, go with this setup
u can't go wrong

http://www.sail.ca/fr/catalogue/peche/cannes/7780/vendetta/
the vendetta can go head to head with almost any 150-200$ rod
it has ALOT of power and it is very sensitive
i used to own this rod as my backup but i returned it because i didn't have enough $$ to finish the setup
http://www.sail.ca/fr/catalogue/peche/moulinets/12836/forge-fishouflage/
this is probably the best reel available at this time of the year
if u were going to spend a bit more, u could go with a shimano symetre 2500 fj

trout fishing is pretty simple..
spool+flurocarbon leader+hook+worm/what ever trout may like to eat
make sure to have 2-3 spools with different color/shape, some trouts are really picky
also make sure to use small hook
u may also have to change the lenght of ur leader

try to get that rod too, it is not on sale but it is so Worth it...i have a rapala shift and a fenwick aetos, two 170$ rods and the vendetta is just as good

are u living in quebec? if so go to a sail store http://www.sail.ca/en/our-stores/
..they will give you every tips u need to know and they will actually take their time to explain you how to use certain lure and when not to and u can ask them every questions you got
it will be alot better then watching a video on youtube..because the technique may change depending where you are going and when

it's the best thing to do
i go there everytime i'm trying a new type of fishing...
i'm gonna buy a musky rod soon and i went there 2-3 weeks ago to learn a bit about the rod/reel/lure etc and the guy spent a good 25 minutes with me even tho he knew i wasn't buying it right away, they just like to talk about their passion
i bought my finesse rod last time and one guy spent about a hour explaining a newbie customer how to fish and he built him a basic setup to start fishing..this is why i love going there
