any of y'all do any big game hunting?/ up north?

No. I have applied for my Elk tag but haven't drawn one yet, same thing with Black bear and Wolf. The only big game everyone can hunt yearly is white tail deer here.

Good rub I sat by this year - buck never showed though when I was around

-----------------------

All the above pics were from my hike this weekend. Gorgeous day, about 45 degrees, light wind - 2 feet of snow.

Seen deer, coyote and turkey tracks all day...was a good time.

Good one. My most exciting deer hunting story happened when I was 20 years old. I was sitting on the ground with my back up against a big walnut tree that made a fence row in a big field. These trees are like 40-50 ft tall and probably that far apart going across this field to separate property lines basically. It was opening morning and I was sitting at the first tree coming out of the woods into the field because I had planted a small 1 acre food plot to attract some action.About 15 minutes after it got light enough to see, a few does wandered out and start eating, then a six point buck comes out there messing with them sniffing and chasing them around a little bit. They got about 30 yards away from me and the buck was paying attention to them and they were paying attention to him because he was forcing the issue. So anyway I shot this buck when he was broadside and had his head turned away from me. As soon as I fired he spun around and fucking charged right at me, going like 40 mph. I fired again with my semi auto shotgun and he kept coming, this seemed like 5 minutes but was probably less than 5 seconds the way shit seems to go in slow motion when you are in what you perceive to be a life and death situation. I had just enough time to roll off to my left and get behind the tree before the buck slammed into it right where I had been sitting seconds before. It totally shattered his rack and he crumpled up like a pile of bricks after he slammed that big old tree. One of the craziest hings I ever experienced deer hunting.

Danggggg that's crazy man.

How is hunting a sport if you have a high powered rifle? Any pussy can do that from the safe distance. Well unless it's real hunter's topic, and you hunt them with only a knife or a spear?

What kind of psychopath kills animals for sport anyway?

I hunt Tigers with my bare hands, does that count?

Naw, nothing is in right now that I hunt. I mean in PA you can hunt crows and coyotes just about all year round but not interested. However I wouldn't mind to mount a coyote, would be insane.

My plan until summer is over is to just check out the woods and focus on deer patterns and see where they are now, where they are eating, where they are moving and where they are at certain times of the day. My main focus is deer hunting, both archery and rifle this year.

None actually  I just started bow hunting 3 years ago and it's a whole different ball game. It's just a reason for me to get out in the woods as I prefer rifle season. I don't get out as much as I'd like to, but it's fun and challenging.

I actually would have to get a huge buck in archery because I wouldn't kill anything small because in PA we can only get 1 buck so if I get a small buck in archery I miss my favorite season of all with my Dad and family, rifle.
