And, as jro pointed out, the M9 Beretta is the standard military sidearm, with some groups of exception (mainly special forces) who get to choose their own, in which case its very frequently...a 1911.

I actually like the glock trigger
has the best reset on a striker fired handgun ever and crisp pull
i think the main thing people have trouble transitioning to the glock is the grip angle
beretta 92fs are good(not sure if they make cali legal though)
but for a little cheaper you can get the cz sp01's or the cz75b(pretty much the cheaper hi-power)
which are so god damn accurate
