Hmm didn't even know there were that many different shorttrack events.

Well it's not a shame not to know, but it's a shame not to know and call me an American w/o knowledge for calling it like it is!

It's not like I'm distancing myself from what I said earlier.. It still is not a strange decision from the olympic organization.

But how can you be good at 'one special event' when you win 14 medals? -_-

Yo makin no sense man!

If you read carefully you'll see that I'm not saying it's 'strange' - I'm saying it's a decision for the wrong reasons. France and Germany are classical wintersport nations in the heart of a wintersport region.

Southkorea has which wintersport nations in proximity? Right, none!
And their medals being all from basically one event is my argument for them not being a typical wintersport nation.

Wot they do / will provide are potent sponsors and well-organized games - but so will Qatar.

Qatar has no football history whatsoever. No audience. Horrible climate. 40+ degrees in summer, how can football be played like that? They're going to use AIRCONDITIONING in the stadiums. FIFA chose Qatar's environmentally horrible bid over England's 'green WC'. -_-

(Investigation and rumors about Qatar having bribed voters etc.. clearly)

About the Korea thing..

There are only a few typical winter sports countries in the world. Canada/US/Germany/France/Austria/Switzerland/Italy/Russia/Norway/Sweden/Finland, that's about it. That would mean about all olympic winter games would be held in Europe or on the North American continent. Clearly they were now looking for a wealthy non-western Country that has some experience in winter sports and that has a large audience. Considering this, Korea is not a bad option at all.
