Ok, where his times are now, I honestly don't see how anyone could beat him, or really progress much further in sprinting. Pre changed the whole game of middle distance, Bolt is just making the records harder. You can't run a sprint differently, other than sprint it (especially the 100).
Pre made the mile a near sprint, he changed the first two laps from pace to a hard run. He changed the 3 mile to the same thing. He broke a record by 6.8 seconds. I agree, bolt is going to make people try newer things to beat him, but I highly doubt it will happen.
And he isn't making the sport more popular, he doesn't have the charisma of Pre, who brought running back to the public.
you are exagurating a little bit.
Steve is da man, but let's be honest,
how in the world do you compare him to Bolt? I mean seriously, why even mention the name?
Usain and Steve are completely different athletes. Both running doesn't classify them in the same category. Short distance and Middle distance is a completely different category. And be fair, the 100m is the "King's Number" in any world championship and olympics. Actually, it's the most "watched" in athletics. No matter what you do on the other categories, the 100m-200m will have the most attention.
and hell, Steve is probably so famous because he died so young.
and don't go to far with "changing the game" either. It's not that he teached the new generation how to run. No, long distance running is basically all about Stamina. he didn't evolved a new beathing technique or a less tiring running method. He just ran, that's basically it.
Steve is nowhere as "known" as Bolt for example, or many many many many other runners.
comon, i bet my life on it, Haile Gebrselassie is 1578 times more "known" then Steve for example.
anyways,
i just don't understand the point of comparing Bolt to Steve.
