You are going to really enjoy it imo.

i sure will
i may switch to a 5wt tho ..we'll see tomorrow
i'm going to fish trouts and from what i read on fishing forums, u can cast the fly just fine but the line is more thick and it will scare small fish such as trout
i'll buy the 8wt later to fish pikes/big bass/etc
at 120$ it's a joke

I use heavier weight line and like a 6 to 8 foot clear leader of lighter weight when I trout fish. They are sensitive, they won't bite if you walk too hard on the bank around here. They are really skittish in the smaller streams around here especially.

Its what ppl also do on forums but id rather have 2 rods and have fun fishing trout...i spent 200 on a finesse spinning rod to have fun so why not spend 120 for a 2nd fly rod

i'm about to buy a fly rod and i'll probably buy a 2nd one in a week
i'm also buying about 50$ Worth of tackle every week or 2 ...i lose about 20$ of tackle every 2 weeks too :(

My dad fishes all the time, he wins local tourneys on Lake Lanier and recently bought a new fishing boat.
He makes his own lures using a molten lead rig with pre-made molds, uses powder paint to paint them all different colors (with speckles and shiny)

I'm trying to get him a nice gift, I never really ever get him gifts because I never know what to get him.
He has weatherproof fishing outfit, bunch of rods and reels, lures and weights..

any ideas?

Get him some Gucci polarized sun glasses for fishing. there are 4 different color lenses for different conditions, maybe you can see what ones he has and get him a pair he doesn't. Here's a good basic guide for buying polarized glasses : http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/info/index.jsp?categoryId=1179922
You can buy different quality from $20-$250 or more.

caught a 100+ crappie, 50 or so NICE perch
25" bass, multiple 20"er's and a 46" pike. (along with a ton of smaller ones.. probably 10 all week.)
