Well I went fishing for the first time today with what I had. It was pretty successful and fun. I used shiners as bait and caught smaller bass but with the pole I had it bent all the way to the water no matter the size. I ended up with 5 bass and the girl I took got 6/7 fish and the kid that was with us got aroun 15 mostly bluegill and sunfish although I let him use some shiners and he caught a few bass. Not too shabby. But a new pole is defiantly on the list. I can't seem to make the knots stay or the line snaps. I had both instances and the fish weren't even big. I'm using the 8lbs fluorocarbide leader like you said. What's a better knot then the one where u twist it 7 or so times and loop it through the first one? Also what knot to use when connecting the braid to the fluorocarbide?

Double palomar knot is the only one I use. It's strong and wont come untied unless your line breaks. I haul salmon out of the river with this and never had a problem with them coming undone.

I use a swivel and tie the lead on one side and the other to your heavy line.

why not? You cant cast with some line hanging out? I don't ever use 8ft of lead, usually about 3 personally.

this is what I do
not exactly but it is very similar except I do it with both lines instead of just one and it never failed

if you tie it down tightly it should go threw your guides very easily

Alright imma goto the store tmr and pick up some lures. I think mainly I wanna use spinnerbaits and have a little bit of everything else. I was going to get one or 2 of everything off this list in both dark and light colors for different water conditions. Except for the Alabama rig. http://www.wideopenspaces.com/10-best-bass-fishing-lures/

I was also gonna get some booya pad crasher frogs one with a black stomach and one with a white stomach. As for soft bait I'm not really sure.

Keep in mind I will be fishing mainly the tuscarawas river, Atwood lake on shore, maybe mosiquto lake, and ofc farmers ponds. This is all in Ohio btw. Do you think these are good choices?

And for my spinner bait imma get one of each weight and I'm going to decide wether to get different skirts just some that are dark and others that are bright. Then also should I really be worried about the spinner color? I've read a few different articles on the actual spinner color. Do you think it really effects anything? If so should what should I stick to in what conditions?

Then I've also been looking at baitcasters. I was thinking to start out going with the bass pro shops nitro reel and just fish with spinners on it. But I wasn't sure what rod or even if that reel is any good for that price. The rod and reel budget should be around 150

E: I also need some terminal tackle but I'm not sure what ill actually need.
