OMG topics like this make my brain hurt. People don't even look to see what the question is before jumping in to give their worthless opinion.

The op CLEARLY meant toughest sport to play professionally as in TOUGHEST TO MAKE A ROSTER.

The correct answer is basketball because of the largest pool of applicants in addition to small rosters (around 12 per team).

Hitting a major league fastball is the hardest thing to do in sports.
I would also have golf high up on my list as well.
