about balance: make sure you get enough speed. ofcourse it's scary in first but like riding a bike, you need speed.
and about buying a board: size: make sure the tip of the board gets to the height of your nose

enjoy boarding ^^

vouch

also i find if you put your weight on the downhill foot turning is easier and u get a little more speed as well.

i am also a ski/snowboard instructor and i was able to apply a great deal of my knowledge of skiing to help me carve on a board. I used to do a lot of racing with skiing but stoped because i fractured my lower vertebrae and took a long time to recover.

i kinda worded it wrong but have your weight going downhill while leaning back and forth on your heels and toes to turn

i jump when i need to not when i want to. i end up having more fun skiing/boarding the terrain than going to a park and hitting up all the jumps and shit.
