Anyone who doesnt say soccer has no idea about sports in general,...
Football~Hockey--> these two are automatically out because they are interval sports with substitutions,, 2 min line changes in hockey, football plays last 2mins-3 mins at the most.
Soccer = 80 min sprint with very few interuptions,
I would agree that basketball is up there on the list because it also doesnt ever stop physically.. but its on the lower end because some players can get away being slow due to just obscure massive height.(( not very physically demanding when hopping 1/2 a foot gets u 2 feet above the hoop))
In terms of Physical Skill,... Gymnastics and any of the aerobic anaerobic combination sports should win.
List of Aerobic Anaerobic combination sports~
1. Figure Skating
2. Gymnastics
3. Boxing
Anaerobic Sports
1. Football or Hockey ~ these two are too similar in terms of physical output (( u get hit in both and u gotta sprint in both ))
2. Basketball ~ not as physical but the name of the game here is control of short bursts of speed.
3. Olympic Sprinting ~ the basis of all anaerobic sports,... has to make the list.
Aerobic Sports
1. Soccer ~ on average each played clocks about 11.2kms/7miles total.. thats always sprinting....
2. Lacrosse ~ same premise as soccer... but the field is about half the size at a professional level..
3. Tennis ~ i struggled with this one, because tennis can be so different from game to game based on certain players skill levels... for example the longest tennis matches in history have lasted 6+ hours,... which if that was an average wouldve put tennis at the top of this list.
Just as a close to my post,,
i found this fantastic photo of some sports compared in running totals during the average game, football scored lowest and is scored based on the wide receiver (who does the most running).

idk what kind of soccer you guys play or watch, but they are definitely not sprinting the whole game. i mean we are talking about professional sports here right? not some back yard soccer where kids are sprinting down the field with the ball scoring every 30s. it's more like a jog around in play formation unless a break happens or pass to reform. hell half of the time they are basically standing there waiting in position. not saying it isn't hard and they do burst out sprinting sometimes, but not all the time, get real lol.
