I just went with some $20 plain one. I may go back and add the Rainier one later but idk if Ill bother for now. I ordered the last two parts (minus optics) for my AR and the grand total is $1038. Thats with mostly higher end parts (chrome lines CHF barrel, LMT BCG, SAR rail.) The price also included 2 pmags so its closer to a $1000 rifle that I could probably sell for $1300+ once assembled.

id say keep it and dont sell it
you can always buy better parts and then use old parts for 2nd project

Just curious, but what is the point of having this? I mean the only thing i can think of is to just have it for the sake of having it. Its not really good for hunting, no sense in all the upgrades if just for a target weapon.

Whats wrong with an AR for hunting? Plenty of people do it.

Its a fun gun to shoot, easy to build, not that expensive in comparison to some other assault rifles, kinda cool, capable for home defense, and nice for a SHTF kinda deal.


I wouldnt sell it unless I needed the money to go towards school. Although I wouldnt mind making a few hundred bucks profit and building a new one.
My barrel is a lightweight profile and although I havent shot it, it feels nice. The whole rifle is much lighter than my friends and I dont see the additional kick from the lower mass being an issue.

Was just curious. I know a guy who built one of these and claimed he was using it for hunting. Building a tactical weapon for hunting is just ignorant, but since yours is a hobby then its understandable.

Yeah its been hot as fk here. Supposed to hit 103 tomorrow. I got a little done at the start of summer, caught a few nice mess of Bluegill and Largemouth Bass.

You just made my day by your choice in rifle. I personally use Rugar .308 specifically. Have a few different models for different situations. Still have my military issued .308, beautiful weapon thats never let me down.

There are lots of guys who hunt with ARs. Ive heard a lot of people use shorter barreled ARs with silencers for hog hunting. I think 300 blackout is supposed to be a good caliber for hunting too.
And there are tons of long range ARs out there. I imagine a similar hunting set up for an AR is more expensive then other rifles but you can build a pretty accurate AR for hunting quite easily and still have a range gun.
