I love 2 things for bass fishing.
#1- A weedless rubber worm (natural or purple color have been best for me). I cast from the boat towards shore (usually in a vegetated area like lily pads or what not. I cast it out and let it sit about 20 seconds, then give it a little jerk and reel in the slack, repeating this until its retrieved.
#2- a floating Rapala, black top with silver bottom has worked best for me. small one with 2 treble hooks. Cast it towards shore from the boat and let it sit until the rings from casting it disappear. Then give it a jerk and reel in slack just like the worm, but between jerks (which moves lure maybe 3 feet at a time) wait for the rings from the lure to disappear. I have gotten lots of hits just before I got ready to move the lure again.
I need to buy some different colored worms for my weedless Texas rigs. I've been playing around with a top water frog. Had a bass hit it yesterday but I wasn't paying attention, I was watching my son play and spazed out and just ripped the frog out before it had a chance to swallow the frog up

so mad at myself for that, but I'll get one here soon.
Really need to practice with the baitcasters. I don't have a bait so I'm stuck up on the shore trucking through weeds and trees trying to get to spots where everyone hasn't fished.
