i think it would be baseball.

not only is it the hardest to go pro in, you have to be good in so many aspects of the game to be good enough.

even if you're a pitcher who only need to be good at pitching, you need to be so good because there are so many few spots.

either that, or being drafted as a defense man in hockey.. so hard to be noticed.

and I play football so not biased at all :P

All of these sports are hard.  People think its easy to play basket ball, yes, maybe its true, its easy to controlle the ball, but the day yyou will be part of a team, you wont say its easy at all.  Its also easy to defend and steal the ball, so it make it hard

It's not easy to control the ball in baskebtall lol....maybe your standards of "controlling" the ball but not really.

I can tell who has played and who hasn't, and if you haven't played basketball before at a competitive level (not talking at the park with your scrub friends) then why talk about it?

All these sports are challenging in their own way, they all have different areas that you need to be good at and practice a LOT to become a professional.

Football > Soccer > Hockey > Basketball > Baseball

I know shit all about baseball, only reason it's on the bottom of my list.

Anyone who doesnt say soccer has no idea about sports in general,...
Football~Hockey--> these two are automatically out because they are interval sports with substitutions,, 2 min line changes in hockey, football plays last 2mins-3 mins at the most.

Soccer = 80 min sprint with very few interuptions,
I would agree that basketball is up there on the list because it also doesnt ever stop physically.. but its on the lower end because some players can get away being slow due to just obscure massive height.(( not very physically demanding when hopping 1/2 a foot gets u 2 feet above the hoop))

In terms of Physical Skill,... Gymnastics and any of the aerobic anaerobic combination sports should win.
List of Aerobic Anaerobic combination sports~
1. Figure Skating
2. Gymnastics
3. Boxing

Anaerobic Sports
1. Football or Hockey ~ these two are too similar in terms of physical output (( u get hit in both and u gotta sprint in both ))
2. Basketball ~ not as physical but the name of the game here is control of short bursts of speed.
3. Olympic Sprinting ~ the basis of all anaerobic sports,... has to make the list.

Aerobic Sports
1. Soccer ~ on average each played clocks about 11.2kms/7miles total.. thats always sprinting....
2. Lacrosse ~ same premise as soccer... but the field is about half the size at a professional level..
3. Tennis ~ i struggled with this one, because tennis can be so different from game to game based on certain players skill levels... for example the longest tennis matches in history have lasted 6+ hours,... which if that was an average wouldve put tennis at the top of this list.

Just as a close to my post,,
i found this fantastic photo of some sports compared in running totals during the average game, football scored lowest and is scored based on the wide receiver (who does the most running).

lol this guy and his 2-3min football plays...the fuck football do you watch. plays are like 10secs long. that right there says you don't know what you're talking about. also, your assumption that aerobic sports are automatically harder than anaerobic ones regardless of other aspects shows how clueless you are.

now back to answering the question of which of the 4 has harder competition, i'd say hockey.

I'm pretty sure i never stated any assumption that aerobic sports are automatically harder.. I even listed them in 3 different categories?
And by suggesting football plays are 10 seconds long you're only adding to original point.
I actually listed reasons for my choices if you're going to attack me at least leave some validation to your claims.
Also hockey cant make the cut, because there are way more challenging sports in terms of physicality.
