Went out last night, blue gill fishing for some dinner. I caught 3 pike , all around 20 inches or so on a worm and a bobber... WTF?!?! I never caught a pike on a worm, let alone 3 in one day.

lol yeah it happens, i once had one attack the bobber... lol he totally ate it and cut the line, I was going for perch with a worm also, after he did that my friend grabbed a rod nearby with a rapala on it, took 3 casts and the same stupid ass pike bit it, was about 24 inches, nothing special but damn was he stupid.

Yeah I have had them hit my lead bobber when I was using a dry fly popping top water for gills before, but never just eat my work like a gill would, let alone 3 in a row. I had also been casting mepps spinners all over different sizes and colors, because this lake is said to have large pike, muskie , and walleyes.

Pinks are running my local river right now :) May head down to the mouth for some shore casting this evening, if the tide's up that is!

6lb test and a buzz bomb should do the trick hey?

Well 6lb is what I've got on my spinning reel right now, so it will have to do!

Kings and Coho salmon are starting to run here. Running 30 lb test spiderwire and a 5/8" treble hook with spawn sacks. My personal best was a 50" Coho two years ago and I'm hoping to top it this season. Bought some new 1000 gram thinsulate neoprene waders, finally something to keep me warm in that cold ass river water. My buddy Dick got on a couple nice fish yesterday, I lost a giant one and only hooked up that one time all day. The numbers aren't what they are when the run really gets going, but the fish are fresh coming in daily and are healthy looking.

and we saw a bald eagle waiting for the arrival of the salmon run as well.

I am going camping for the weekend October 2nd and 3rd, so hopefully the fish will be stacked up back to back in those holes by then.
