I've been thinking about getting a handgun for personal protection, but I was wondering if they have any guns with adjustable triggers, something to make it easier to pull. My right index finger is kind of weak b.c. of the spinal damage in my neck, but my other fingers are fine. I tried pulling my friend's police pistol, but he said it required like 8 pounds of force to pull for safety reasons, and I could barely budge it... needed to use two fingers to pull it lol. (yes, my index finger is that weak lol... of all the fingers...)

For sure they can be adjusted by a gunsmith. I would ask the guy at the gun store if they have someone on site that can do it. Most places do, at least around here they will do whatever if you have the money, and that shouldn't be too big of a cost as far as mods go, but with an easy pull, you need to be careful too. there is a reason there is an 8 lb trigger weight, so it dont go off like a mousetrap if bumped.

That's good to know. I don't want it to be too easy of course, but I want to be able to pull it w/o having to hold it in a funny way and use my middle finger on the trigger. I've been neglecting to look into it for a couple years now, since idk where there is a gun shop near me, and now prices have probably gone up lol. There's gun shows like every couple months where I live, but I've been too lazy to check one of those out too. I was wondering if they sell used guns at gun shows, since I really don't need anything fancy.

yup they sure do, hand guns have a waiting period while they check your background, and a lot of them you cant fire the weapon on site though. Most Guns stores have used guns too they take in on trades. Do some checking, and shop around a little because guns have gone up, handguns not so much compared to the kind they are trying to outlaw.

The testing for police officers includes hand strength so even after being fatigued you could still discharge your weapon.

8 pounds was good for me. It ensures you're doing it on purpose instead of an accidental

ofc they will, they like to ensure that small children can get off at least two rounds before someone takes them down

just get a better gun most guns for carry are around 4.5 to 5lbs

shitty guns have terrible triggers, the better quality the better the trigger

also messing with trigger pull is not too good of an idea most of the time
