He's never tested positive, how can they assume that he did. Doesn't make sense to me

they don't just "assume" it, they have proof and witnesses.
also, why would an innocent man try everything to stop an investigation and then (after a judge rejected his attempt to block the investigations) just say he won't fight the charges?

the "never tested positive" legend (seems to be very popular in america and amongst his fans) is bullshit. they did find EPO in his blood samples...

Only took them what, 10 years and how many millions of dollars to get him to stop defending himself?

Now let's see if they spend the same effort going after all the other cyclists who cheated as much as he did yet never won anything.

holy butthurt. the reason why he stopped defending himself is that he knows they got him. he doesn't want to admit it.
he's a cheater and finally he's being punished. if they just let it go he'd still be a hero to the naive morons who believe his conspiration theories and flimsy excuses...

even now he sill tries to portray himself as victim - pathetic! can't believe you fall for that.

Every reasonable person knows all the cyclists including Armstrong are cheaters. No one is buying into his flimsy excuses.

The point is that if they disqualified all the cheaters, then there would be no Tour de France winners for the last 30 years and no winners for the next 30. Is that what you want? Or do you want only a select number of riders to be stripped?

Glad you're that well informed. You must have talked to him or one of his family members. That,or you try to pass off your assumptions as facts.

But we've got the message: cycling is a joke because everybody dopes. The question is who's the best doper, not the best cyclist.

actually, yes. this IS one possible way to make the sport clean. reset the records (> 90% of the top 10 finishers in the last couple of decades used peds anyway) - even stricter controls - lifetime ban / huge fines that really hurt / maybe even jail for those who cheat - i would like to see that happen...
but we all know it won't. just look at that contador guy. despite (some may even say especially since) his ban he's an absolute hero in spain - because they want to believe his outrageous lies...

wait what? you're making no sense at all... just because i didn't talk to him or his family that doesn't mean it's just an assumption...
they found EPO in his blood - that is a simple fact. i don't have to talk to his family to make that any more true...

and yes, cycling is a joke because almost everybody dopes. it's sad but true...

resetting the records and banning everyone would fix the past, but not the future. Every future winner would get banned if they chose to put the same effort investigating them as they did into investigating Armstrong. Cyclists can pass all the tests during the event then get stripped 10 years later, so the sport can never be clean that way.

Bottom line is that doping is part of cycling just as much as sponsorships are part of the sport. Maybe doping shouldn't be, but it is. And at the hybrid sport of dope-cycling, all competitors were playing on a level field. And the people who won from that field proved they were better than the other dope-cyclers.
