Man you people listen to the media WAYYY to much, get a grip. Phelps is still an all-star. He loses an event that he barely even trained for, and all of a sudden he's a has been? He still got freakin 4th place. 4th best in the world. For an event he didn't even train for.
Not to mention he basically carried the 4x100 free team to a silver medal. Others contributed, but he was by far the best swimmer on the team in that event.
Let's anoint Lochte the new face of US Men's swimming, after he beats Phelps in one event that Phelps barely trained for, only to have him choke it away in his next two events.
Phelps may not be as dominant as he was in Beijing, but the best olympic performance in history is a damn hard act to follow up. He's still an amazing, world class athlete, and the fly is his event. I don't think he's even close to being done yet.
This. Basically stated above he only put in a little bit of training compared to other people.
