finally a thread about this, here in ny my area is shotgun only but i got a preety fat doe but no buck yet, there is a monster lurking around here that would look good on my wall but that asshole is smart and hides on land that i cant hunt on. but good luck to anyone else

in indiana you can't use rifles for deer. fml. but I got a doe with my bow and a doe with my shotgun.

Had a little spike buck chase a doe right under my stand on opening day, but couldn't get them to stop.

And then I saw nothing but turkeys and hawks for the next few days. Deer just were not moving as well as I had hoped.

Ah well... So is hunting :lol:

EDIT: I'm Illinois so no rifle. Only shotgun, handgun and muzzle for the gun season.

I use a Thompson Contender pistol in .243 magnum. Only have to shoot it once a year we have alfalfa fields at our hunting camp. Its not so much hunting as it is choosing which deer will make the better steaks. I also get one with a bow :thumbsup:
