Tippmann is reliable, sure. You wont get more than 9 bps from it though.

Remember playing with a rental? It didnt shoot very fast did it? You saw all those rich kids with a gun that shot epic fast?

They didn't use tippmanns.

A tippmann is barely above a rental gun. shit, i know places that use tippmanns as rentals.

Well... I, for one, think autos bring more of a "pray and spray" mentality to the game. I'd actually recommend a pump as the first gun, because it teaches you to make shots *count*. And you go through paint a helluva lot slower, ofc. Less paint shot = less money spent.

Some fields dont allow Auto settings, and it depends if you like speed ball or woods ball, i woulda read posts before but got too lazy ;(.

When i play woodsball i used a 98 + Flatline. Which worked out nice.

i would use a A-5. more up to date and customizable.

If it came down to barebones....no egrip reponse trigger etc

a5 or 98? AND WHY please

playing is mostly going to be recreational, so i dont need a super fast gun, and i dont need soemthing thats going to blow a billion balls per second

oh yeah.

the a5's hopper is positioned to the side of the gun, is there any dissadvantages to this?

Yes there are, but not for woodsball, and not for recreational play.

Go with the A5, the 98custom is shitty to the max

can you give me reasoning of why i would chose the a5 over the 98?

from reading the real difference is with the loader. the a5 has the cyclone feed but uses more c02
the a5 seems to be a little better built than the 98

Yea, and 98s are out of date. You can customize the shit out of a A-5 and X-7. And if you wanna speedball later there are some set ups for double triggers for A5/X7. But the Hopper is on the right of both the 98 + A-5, its just the a-5 can block some view and can get shot if not careful.

I want to purchase a paintball gun.  I've been recommended buying from tippman.

looking to spend $150-220

first thing is.......

tippman 98

or

tippman A-5

http://www.paintball-online.com/shop/Tippmann-Paintball-Guns_dept_75

then from this site, which gun?...

Im no expert. But A-5 is WAY better than the 98.
