I'm going with a group up to a ski resort in a few days and I opted to try snowboarding instead of skiing.

Been skiing a few times, but never been snowboarding, just looking for general tips/advice. Videos are good too if anyone finds any useful ones.

Yes I did Google first, only found a few useful things. Thanks.

You gon die! You might be alright though snowboarding is harder to learn than skiing, you have experience on the snow. Keep your weight on your front foot, bend your knees and rock forward and back you don't actually push your legs kind of go up on your toes then back on your heels. It's hard to explain online

So you're saying distribute most of your weight on the leg leading you so that you're perpendicular to the slope, and alternate putting pressure on the toe and heel sides of the board as you're moving?

Okay you'll have to explain that one a little better.

I thought it through lol it's kinda hard to explain you never really want your nose or tail going vertical to the hill always on your heels or toes you snake down the hill. And have fun :)

If you're riding regular, meaning left foot forward (strong right foot back) then you'll apply pressure to your left foot heel to turn left. For right turns, apply pressure to the snow with your front left toes. Dig into the snow to elevate the opposite side of the board so it's carving for your turn.

Any other tips? Mainly looking for info on how to stop or how to get around with the board while not on the hill.

Should be good on the rest.

Do I need snowpants? I don't want to buy a pair just for this ONE day, but I feel like jeans aren't quite enough.

Although the cold has never bothered me before...
