I'm just going to assume that this is the closest thing to the 'correct forum' as I can get for advice on this subject, but if I'm wrong please direct me to the correct place =).

I'm looking to get a reliable paintball gun, nothing overly powerful or some fancy electronic automatic machine gun thing.
I was thinking a Tippman 98, as those seem to be the AK47 of the paintball market, is this a good idea? I am only looking to spend around $100-$150, so the tippman almost seems perfect other than the fact that it has no double trigger stock.

Any advice from some experienced players?

I used to be in paintball.

Dont get a tippman. Your going into an expensive hobby.. You will spend more on paint, canisters, and gear after all is said and done. So get a nicer gun (not sure whats nicer but i know tippman sucks).

ur right, they dont, but what are u going to be doing? Getting teams together and competing? Or just shooting at shit in your backyard?

You get what you pay for. And tippman you can upgrade it to death, or spend less money in the long run and get a nicer gun upfront by paying more than youd like.

I'll be playing mostly in a 15 acre gravel pit with 40+ people for fun, no small area competition things.

if your going for outlaw ball then get a tippman. But if your going to fields with both Speedball and woods than i suggest you get a g3. There cheap and easy to take care of.

tippmann 98 is a great choice for a first gun

they are tough as shit, have a million differend mods and parts you can buy for them, low price, and they last forever

i have 2 98s, and a Proto PM6 (which was quite a bit more)

don't listen to trex.. tippmans are great guns for woodsball, not very good for speedball.. but depending on where you live you may not even have a speedsball in your region such as me. So, if you're just gonna be around the yard/random woods course then tippmans are great guns and very durable.

Also, you should be looking to spend money on a good loader/tank and mask before you buy a good gun, this way you can upgrade your gun later on without having to buy anything else. Also, if you have a good loader/tank it'll most likely be better performance wise then a half ass loader/tank with a decent gun.

even for woodsball tipmans still arnt that great.

you can go on pbnation and get a upd ion for like 100-300$ and thats the best starter gun u can find in my opinion
brand new they are only 200$
it is a electric marker.. you can get a virtue board for it.. and makes it one hell of a starter gun.
i still rip kids up with my ion.. but rly its not a ion anymore..lol

AND NEVER EVER EVER GET A SPYDER.. LOL fuckin brass eagle.. what are you six?

you can message me if you need any help or info about anything specific.. ive been playing for over 20 years

and like the guy above paintball is very expensive.. not just to get going but to keep going.
