Just to add - since yesterday I've been following the server status thread on the LE Forum.

There are still people who believe that 'never play on launch day' and 'everyone knows there would be server problems' are sufficient excuses... I find that simply audacious, such thinking is downright absurd to me. This isn't the first game launch to be inundated. People KNOW it's coming. The fact that they can't get it together is truly pitiful and significantly lowers my opinion of the game's development team. Come on... Even three months prior with Palworld, they saw it coming.

And then, the downtime, how long was it? 5 hours? The streamers I watched were either offline or the servers had endless loading times with disconnects.

It's ridiculous, and attempting to justify it is equally ridiculous. By now, they should have this sorted. Let's not forget, LE has been around for 3 years...

Yesterday, I briefly felt the urge to refund, but I suppose I'll never learn...

I really get upset on this kinda things, i know i shouldnt but i had to write it down.

TLDR;
Last Epoch Release was really bad and i am mad about it.

I found those rants on their forum actually truly amazing. I mean, people have no idea how hard it is to actually
make working online game of this size and deploy it for 100k+ people without any downtime or unexpected bugs.
Biggest companies with assets in billions fail but yeah it's ez pez to deploy few million line of code app in perfect order, easy.

For a team of only 90 total employees the release went as expected I think.

I don't care how much work it is. There's a deadline by which it must be finished. If I, as an electrician, have to connect 200 cables and there are still 50 cables missing at the completion date, then I have a problem. If I go to the hairdresser and they only cut half of my hair, that doesn't work either. I find it somewhat ridiculous that people always apologize for the developers. That's their job; it was expected to go this way. The player base is shrinking because of this; refunds on Steam are skyrocketing. I can't imagine that something like this is impossible. Path of Exile also manages servers that can handle such traffic. This issue exists in so many games, why should I accept that what always goes wrong will continue to go wrong. Nonsense.

yeah as expected, still it went trashy
This is the problem here. People already see this as normal. Normal should be that it works, not that it goes wrong every time. 'Never play on launch day' my ass
Please don't get me wrong, I'm not upset because I couldn't play Last Epoch yesterday. People accepting it and excusing the devs makes me go brrr

I'm super interested in the reasoning.
Seems like they stressed tested beyond the actual outcome for the game and were fine before launch.

There's a solution to your problem you're having too.
Don't play.

gonna use your analogy as an electrician since i am one as well.

if you're running a crew of 30-50 guys, you need to depend on them to not all make some kind of small mistake. If you get 1 guy who literally decides he's going to be lazy and not ground some of the boxes he worked on that could short your entire system. finding all the small shorts, in the massive work space you have combined will take more time than you're willing to give. Now take the concept of that except with way more details to filter through making it exponentially more difficulty of finding the bugs in code/cloud engineering. Errors that are spat out on logs can only lead you to the box, now you have to sift through that box to find the particular thing causing said issue.

every single online game in recent history has had issues like this, not excusing anyone just needs to be expected.

As much as everyone wants to be an 'expert' in solutions on how to fix this issue, there are things that can and cannot be done due to other parameters most likely. (or their incompetent beyond means  )

the problem is they believed they did. It doesn't work that way. I've run crews of 100+ guys, where literally that scenario + more happened. We had less than 24hrs to fix it, it took is 4 days.

short led to generator being fried, generator being fried led to wire being compromised, wire being compromised lead to it melting into the fucking conduit etc etc etc

e/ but glad you can see reason  appreciate the civility

There's simply too much that can go wrong that is unexpected. Almost every newly released game has this happen. Who are you to say what the standard is? D4 I had to wait multiple hours to play and then sat in queues for a few more days. Season two got ruined immediately by dupes. Poe had multiple seasons ruined with game breaking bugs.

It happens all across the gaming industry yet you think you're some kind of authority to say it shouldn't happen? Piss off and touch grass.

1 day into the launch and the problems still persist on the same magnitude as yesterday.
I'm not mad about the game and I won't give a bad review but it certainly could have been a smoother launch ngl.
