Gintama is a parody anime so I'm not sure if that fits your bill but the others seem like good recommendations.

Hmm, how about "Kingdom" .. it is semi historical... also, Xbox created a game also based on the history... but the game is prior to the anime "kingdom" ... based on the 7 great generals vs the 3 greats from another kingdom.

So ive watched all episodes that are out from Vinland Saga and i really like it.
1st season had a lot of action and battles
2nd season is more like slice of life but its good too

2nd season is like slice of life? Ooof that’s a disappointment, guess I’ll hold off a bit longer.
