So like many of you i have been watching and reading manga for years. One thing that stands out most to me and it's also one of my biggest problems, finding new anime/manga to watch/read.

for me personally i just prefer an anime/manga to have a male MC i am also male myself so this may have something to do with it. It's more than just oh i don't like there acting.

Them just being female makes me pass on reading/watching something and more and more anime being made these days like live action movies in america are being made with female mc's.

The only conclusion i can come up with is either its not my personal taste or i'm more sexist than i believe myself to be on a deeper level.

Weirdly anime like ghost in the shell i think are amazing and the mc dose not bother me one bit i'm sure there are more that i'm not thinking of but there are a few female mc's that are kick ass and i can enjoy.

Anyway dose anyone feel the same, Can some one explain why i feel this way?

ya just sexist

i think it's mostly just that you don't see female MC's breaking out of their norm/most common roles.
being in romance/shoujo series to stuff like comedies, horror and slice of life.
they're mostly just side characters, love interests or maybe part of the MC group. (probably the biggest exception is Mahou Shoujo)

so it's probably just a genre interest thing.
stuff like Ghost in the Shell or like Seirei no Moribito where women are the leads are also genres you'd mostly see a male mc in. (tbh if those characters were male it probably wouldn't have made that huge of a difference)

yah if the major was a male it wouldent for me but still shes pretty badass but yah idk what to say about that it just erks me and i cant enjoy it

i actually love romance anime's etc so maybe you are right about the whole norm thing but idk what to do about that force myself to like something or just accept that im sexist and try to enjoy something i dont like for a moral reason

To me, it's just a matter of the MC being overpowered and not a bitch (this applies to both its physical ability and its attitude).

It's why I fucking hate child MCs or teen MCs. Male or female doesn't matter to me. I absolutely loved Claymore and it's just a bunch of chicks. Fucking hated that whiny bitch in Naturo and I can't stand attack on titan.
