Because you learn to love and only want the fillers, then when an episode come with action and plot, you are caught off-guard and unsure how to react. In my experience, the swap better fillers and main plot don't give me anywhere near that.
I actually like fillers in most shows. It adds a lot to the story while also giving you greater understanding of the characters.
Imo, people that want to skip fillers probably don't even like the show that much. I figure they probably just want to see only action or to jump from cliff hanger to cliff hanger and have no real respect for the show.
