She is open to watching some anime with me, but I feel like I only have one shot to get her hooked...

Would be cool if I could find a short series (12 eps or so) to get her started on. I think this best genre for her would be romance, drama, or SOL.

English dub would be for the best I think.

I was thinking clannad, but I haven't watched that either.

Thoughts?

Yes, watch it with her. Or if you're that worried, watch it yourself first, then watch it with her.

warning: she might not like the fuko subplot in the first season. the second season will be better for her. but it's not really a 12 ep short series.

Maybe Toradora but the dub doesn't come out until July

Clannad would take too long as it is like 50 episodes for both seasons.

or check out nodame cantabile. The animation is not that great but plot wise may appeal better to older women.
