what shows would you recommend to those that don't watch anime to bring em in?

NOT Naruto.

Pretty much 90% of shounen would get them hooked. Thats the audience it's trying to get. (People who don't watch much/hate it.)

Even though 90% of shounen suck.

Rather scaring them off with serious ones or lovey dovey crap at first.

Just start them with Gintama. You can't go wrong.

Gintama is rather easy to drop though.. it kind of lacks a plot and has alot of episodes before it gets any good.

Naruto

It really depends on the person but probably something like Death Note or Toradora

deathnote worked in one instance for me already, it got both my brother and my mother into anime

the quality of the art work is a big factor, if it looks too simple and plain it can't be taken seriously by non-anime fans
