Hey guys,

I recently got into collecting old anime cels, particularly cels from Akira. I was curious if anybody here does the same, for any anime.

Does anybody know any good resources for finding and purchasing cels? Most of the links on Google are dead now, it seems the sites were quite old. I have only found any luck on *** and another site called animecels (go figure) but since there are so few available at a time on either site I am looking for more places to check out.

Also, if you have some cool cels, feel free to post them up!

If what you mean by cels is the sheets used during the production of animes. If you get the chance to check out mandarake. I saw them selling stuff like that when I was in Japan. I think they have an english online store as well but it doesnt include their entire inventory. Best bet is actually going to their store in akihabara or nakano.

Yep, that's exactly what I mean! They are basically individual frames that are hand-painted on celluloid used in the production of the anime.

I have found some decent ones on [the auction site which seems to be censored here] but I always feel a little sketchy buying stuff on there. Haven't been burned yet but I'm a paranoid guy haha! It just seems like a reputable dealer would really be the way to go.

I am in the USA so Japan isn't really in the books for me anytime soon but I checked their online store. They have a ton of stuff, and also some cels! Personally, I am after Akira cels lately and unfortunately they don't have any at the moment but maybe they will get them in periodically. I'll add it to my search. Thanks!
