So, I may be peer pressured into attending my first anime convention in my life soon... Some silly chick I've known for years wants me to go so she isn't stuck going alone or something...

I need advice...

I do enjoy anime, and manga, but I'm pretty sure I'm not a huge fanatic, and was wondering, what type of stuff even happens at these things...

What actually keeps interest for the whole 3 days?!?

I honestly don't know what they could offer that could be that interesting, that long...

Also, while I understand certain party favors are more than likely against the rules, how strict are they in looking for these things... What sort of substances would you recommend for an entertaining time, and what would you suggest is avoded, because it may give more of a negative experience?

(Hopefully that's clear enough to be understood, yet vague enough to be within the boundaries of the rules...)

Also, I'm 22, the only time I've ever heard anyone talk about this stuff irl was like 14-16 year old kids, is this something I should avoid simply because of age? The girl that's taking me has been goin' to 'en since she was 15, and is 23 now...

Anime is something I do in secret, and not exactly often, I'm not entirely sure I would enjoy this, but I figure I'll give it a shot... She's payin' for everything, I've got the days off from work anyway, may as well try it...


I would appreciate any tips to enhance the experience, or any warnings of things I should watch out for...

Also, feel free to post spam and/or trap/loli/ pics, just let at least a few words of advice get through before it gets locked..

(No, I'm not a 400lb socially inept neckbeard hygiene issues... I've just never been to something like this, I usually prefer to attend football/baseball games as social activities...)

Go to the booths and see what they have to offer thats really all there is to it. It's a lot of fun. You can cosplay, meet people, find out what new animes and manga will be coming out, talk to the artist, etc. There really is no advice you can give besides just go wonder around and see what you can do.

Get her to wear a cute maid outfit and have hot sex in the washroom
Other stuff includes buying merchandise, taking photos with cosplayers, watching shows, picking up girls, etc.

Everywhere I looked kept mentioning something about "free hug fags" basically assaulting strangers....
I'm like 99% sure since I'm a guy, and I won't be cosplaying, and what not, I won't have an issue with anything like that... But I was still wondering, some of the posts I was reading elsewhere were pretty ancient, are those still around, do people really get as carried away as the internet rands make it out, or is that all just stupid rare nonsense...

I only ask, because I'd like to at least have a headsup on stuff like that to be aware, so I don't react in an aggresive manner and what not if someone were to run out and grab the girl I'm goin' with... I've only ever lived in a town of 2,000 people, and on various military bases I was stationed at... That's not really a thing in those places, that's more likely to be an assault that a "hug" where I'm from..

I'm not tryin' to be a tough guy, I'm just trying to be informed so I know what to expect and stuff like that.. Basically just trying to clarify if that's a thing. I'd like to enjoy not ending up in prison for reacting to something stupid lol... Not used to shit like that, I do hope to spend the entire time on x, so it probably won't happen, but I'm just curious lol...

/e I wouldn't hook up with the chick that's bringing me, she's simply not attractive... We've just been friends for years, and it'd be a dick move to make her go alone lol

If you got time, you should cosplay and see if you friend will. It will make it a lot more fun, people will come up, take pictures with you, etc. It makes the time there more enjoyable imo.

I doubt people will do that. I've been to 5 big conventions and none of them had people like that. Everyone really just sticks to there own thing unless they come up and talk to you. or take pictures, etc.

Read your edit. If your not trying to impress her or anything by going then just be urself. loosing up a little bit and have fun.

She plans on cosplaying, does it all the time, but I'm actually strapped for time and cash for the next 3 weeks (stupid bills and working overtime) and that's about when it is, I was invited pretty late, only have 'bout a month... Though, if I do enjoy the con, I will def. Cosplay next time, I've always wanted to try it, just never had the motivation lol

Id see if she would help you out. ^^ It doesn't really cost much money to put something together. You could always pay her back later. and i'm sure she would appericate you dressing up also.

Buy stuff , laugh at the try hards .

Take pics with/of the slutty cosplays .
