I'm just looking for something where there is a great struggle in, something that "really" throws a wrench into somebodies plans or goals and they have to overcome odds and even when the odds are against them kinda thing.

Thats why I was thinking about madoka magical girl, like how Homura had to time travel multiple times trrying to save her friend, though she knew it was pointless she continued on until she found a world where Madoka didn't die.
