I really dig Samurai Champloo. I watched it in my teens and fell in love and have rewatched it recently. The closest thing I've seen to it has been, of course, Cowboy Bebop (which I enjoyed, but not to the extent of SC) and, humorously, The Boondocks.

I am looking for more shows similar to SC. I enjoy the art style, the timeline/historical setting mixed with the modern elements of hip-hop/etc. Also; the characters and the storyline progression.

I've checked out Baccano which was recommended to me by a friend but it doesn't really grab me in the same manner that SC does and I can't really put a finger on why. The characters seem a little more childish and, to be honest, the progression has been difficult to follow or maintain my interest.

I've also watched Afro Samurai which I was told would be similar, but I found to be utterly boring.

I'm not sure if I'm chasing nostalgia or if SC is just a super good series but either would, I would love to hear some other recommendations

Unfortunately in my opinion, there is nothing like Samurai Champloo. I mean Samurai Era, realistic scenery, real action packed and of course Nujabes OSTs. Nothing is like it, and nothing will ever be as good. (In terms of the feels)

Sasami-san can be considered close but the genre itself is far away ;O

It's a great anime don't get me wrong , and yeah there will never be anything like it again RIP Jun Seba :(

I still don't think it's the best "Samurai" anime .

Lets hope Lotus Juice starts doing more soundtracks for Anime and maybe that Hip-Hip vibe will be brought into anime a little more . He already did some for Persona and JoJo and Katanagatari .

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I will look more into these shows and names when I get off work. ^__^

I was curious about Kids on the Slope which is by Shinichirō Watanabe as well, but it seems more like a drama (which I'm not necessarily opposed to) and I cannot find it ANYWHERE.

I also don't think its the best Samurai anime. Thats why I said in terms of feels xD Although I guess thats not the best word to use.

Persona music came from the game so yeah, but indeed its great. Unfortunately to the generic people that watch anime, this type of music is bad -_-

I would reccomend Cowboy Bebop, since it's directed by the same guy. Both make pretty good use of music and make you get attached to the characters.
