Okay so it's an anime from back I'd guess 10 years back (airing on US television).
Probably about robots, but not 100%
One antagonist is a direct opposite of the main protagonist (like an evil twin).
I believe the character has a female and male friend, with an older scientist like person, but I can't be sure that I'm not mixing anime's here.
My first thoughts were Astro Boy and Cyborg 009, but I figured I'd post about it while looking them up to get the fastest response.
