Just some tips.
For new anime I'd recommend JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, it's an amazing anime but is really hit or miss with people, the manga is old as fuck and is also amazing.
Fairy tail turned horrible but was good at first, you might like it idk. Has action and lolwtf powerups etc., just the story sucks major dicks.
Zetsuen no tempest is an anime which I've been reading the manga for a while now, they did a pretty good job with anime but it doesn't follow 100%, some things are shown/said early etc. sort of a mix between action and mystery I guess? The whole story is pretty whack.

If you liked death note definitely try Code Geass, one of the most amazing animu.
