I don't really watch anime too often, but I decided to watch some recently. I just saw Code Geass, which was decent. Then I saw -- for the most part -- High school of the Dead, which was shit. I just finished Ergo Proxy, which was also decent. Last anime I saw before these was Elfen Lied.

What animes would you guys suggest? I like the quasi-realistic animations of Ergo Proxy and I do like the slightly darker elements, although they aren't necessary. I don't mind romance, but I don't want some cheesy shit like HotD. I have Gantz and soon Neon Genesis Evangelion ready to watch because I saw some youtube clip where someone rated it very

highly. Any other suggestions?

"Slightly darker elements"

http://myanimelist.net/anime/11111/Another (You'll be like wtf... Final Destination?)

http://myanimelist.net/anime/6880/DeadmanWonderland (You might want to read the manga as well.)

http://myanimelist.net/anime/6746/Durarara!! (It was interesting and I enjoyed this show.)

http://myanimelist.net/anime/467/GhostintheShell:StandAloneComplex (Futuristic, awesomeness.)

http://myanimelist.net/anime/3342/Mnemosyne:MnemosynenoMusume-tachi (6 episode OVA's 45 minutes each.)

http://myanimelist.net/anime/19/Monster (74 episodes, if you liked Death Note because of the cat 'n' mouse chase then you'll love this. I hope you can tolerate longer animes.)

Thanks and keep up with the suggestions, guys. If you could, put a slight summary (without spoilers) about what the show is about.

Currently watch Gantz.

Gantz is awesome - My advice is not to watch the last episode though - just stop the episode before and pick up where u leave off with the manga. Possibly the worst filler ending in anime history - yes, even worse than berserk.

I was actually going to ask a question regarding manga and anime. I would prefer not to watch any other anime like Gantz where it's based on an unfinished manga. When I watch an anime and it's not even based off the complete manga, I find myself having to read the manga. I did that for Full Metal Alchemist, Elfen Lied, Bleach, and Naruto. :\

Do you happen to know where Gantz the anime ends and the Manga begins? Also, is it exactly the same except for the last episode?

Yes and no... I dunno. Been a long time.

Gantz anime is awesome - but last episode sucks as show was cancelled. Just watch it til penultimate episode and then start on manga - there are subtle differences up until about 3/4 of the way through the anime where they start to get quite different. Don't wanna spoil anything but the manga is awesome also.

Listen to this guy too :) Monster is probably my fave anime of all time.

Yeah, I actually crossed Monster when I was searching for good animes, but I decided to skip it for now since the summary wasn't that interesting. I'll probably check it out, anyways.

Gantz has been decent so far (only about 4 episodes in), but I dislike the protagonist. However, I am seeing the slight character development and I'm sure he'll probably improve. Also,I know you said to watch up to the penultimate episode of Gantz, but that has a 0% likelihood of happening. :)

I hate not finishing stuff that I start, but I will definitely just ignore the last episode after I start reading the manga. Thanks.
