I like some anime's, but it seems like people usually get made fun of for watching/liking anime.

It seems like some anime's are more intelligent than most TV shows though.

Does anyone else keep anime watching a secret in real life? My close friends don't even know I watch it.

Because of the art styles commonly used in anime. They seem childish, and therefore people believe the anime to also be childish. It's not frowned upon for children, but it is for adults, at least that's the way I see it.

the way i have managed to change peoples minds is by showing them a episode or two from near the end of shows

example.
showed one of my good friends the end of samurai champloo

they quickly acknowledge their follies

but ya, most people look at them like its nickelodeon or some shit
add on to that, subtitles and it might as well not exist in their minds

most of em can barely read anyway

don't see why it should be something you hide
if you like it why hide it? who cares if others know
if your friends end up disliking you cause of what you like then they would be pretty shitty friends

I don't know why you hide this. Why to be ashamed? It's your privacy.



There is a little of that.But imo most people who look at a boy watching many animes, think he's an "otaku". It's rly stupid.
