ik it isn't much but i've been trying to remember what this anime was. The girl in the beginning was taking care of a chicken and when the chicken died she replaced it with the boy. And the girl couldn't cry because her grandmother took away her tears when she died.
It's been driving me crazy trying to remember what this anime was.
