my 12 year old son is starting to like this stuff. He watches his pokemon and dragonballs.

I know a lot of anime deals with adult themes. Is there anything that as a parent I should be weary about when dealing with the pokemon and dragonballs? I really dont want my son to come across nudity (which I dont think there is) or cursing (which I am not certain if exists in the shows). He got a hold of the discs for the dragonball and I know that disc =s no censorship that they would have if on television.

I remember watching a couple anime shows at a buddies house back when I was younger and remember a lot of skin being shown...such as cleavage and whatnot.

You have nothing to worry about if it's Pokemon and Dragonballs =)

I can't really speak on safe animes, because most safe animes are to japan what cartoons are to us.

If anything, I suggest just having him watch newer American Cartoons. Studios over the last decade have picked up on the huge success of Anime styled shows and have done their best to mimic it.

Examples like Ben 10, that one justice friends show or w/e.

It doesn't have to be anime for a 12 yr old I don't think. Stuff for kids you usually want to be somewhat cultural based, obviously. Japanese kids animes are obviously catered towards a Japanese youth.

dont remind me lol.

I dont want to stop him from watching harmless programs if they are what he and his friends are into. I guess my lack of knowledge about anime in general makes me concerned as a parent.

This is why Ika Musume needs a good dub done... its like a Disney movie, children and adults would both find humor in it and all the adult humor stuff would be over the kids head xD

but most 12 y/o children would not put up with subtitles..

anyways.. get him to love ru box set, you will ruin his life forever but he will love you for it.
