I have not watched it but I believe you don't need to watch the movie
just clannad and then after story

not saying you shouldn't watch the movie but yeah i'm pretty sure its not a part of the anime just a reinterpretation
i believe instead of focusing on the MC Tomoya its focused on Nagisa i dunno been awhile since i watched Clannad

well ill just watch the movie anyays just didnt want to watch out of order

the movie does not follow the story at all
so watch the movie after the series

The movie is a summary of both seasons (basically the story between Tomoya, Nagisa and later Ushio... events involving other characters are ignored, Tomoyo and Fuko don't even appear) but some events develop in slightly diferent ways. I think I heard somewhere the story is a bit more faithful to the original visual novel.

It's OK, but nowhere near the series' level. Imo it shouldn't be watched until you've seen Clannad and Clannad AS. Even though it came out first, the movie was produced by a diferent team; it was done regardless the fact they would or wouldn't later make a Clannad anime series.

I hear the movie isn't that good and can be avoided, I've yet to see it myself in fear of spoiling my clannad experience.
