A lot of the ideas were still being developed so things changed alot. I just watched the fight with the 3rd vs the 1st and 2nd and it was so ridiculous.

They all did nothing impressive by todays standards in Naruto. Like Sarutobi took out both the second and first with explosive tags at one point lol. And the third got restrained by a basic wood technique. Nowadays everyone has insane jutsu and crap and the battles are more impressive.

They mostly used taijutsu back then

Also did they ever mention who was in the third coffin that orochimaru was reviving? It can't be the fourth

I think thats another example of how the whole thing wasn't completely thought out at the time.

They made it seem as though the 3rd coffin would bring back the fourth, but later on they said that people that have their souls already bound can't be summoned

i believe orochimaru could have easily facepalmed most of the akatsuki. I actually believe he coulda taken sage mode jiraiya and they would be either even, or jiraiya is a tad stronger

3rd didnt lose to orochimaru, he sacraficed himself to protect konoha u retard. not to mention he was fighting the first and second hokages aswell as orochimaru.

the only reason orochimaru couldnt touch itachi was because of sharingan and genjutsu. otherwise orochimaru woulda raped itachi
