Yeah but Madara knows pretty much everything that has gone down in the naruto universe. I honestly think that Madara wouldnt view the 3rd as a threat to him.

When he said that the 1st was the only ninja he respects this was during the time AFTER all the amazing ninja already have been exposed. He knows about the 2nd and 3rd Hokages of course.

This argument is all speculation i'll give you that. We haven't seen nearly enough of any of the 1st , 3rd , Madara, 4th or anyone other than Narutos generation to come to a final result of whos best.

My opinion though is that the 1st was the strongest.

Also in my view the 4th was about on par with the 1st. Look at how he completely shut down Madara without even receiving any damage.

This was while he was protecting both Kushina and Naruto AND the village against Madara & the nine tails

he only says he respects 1st because 1st is only person hes ever had to try to fight against
