did they ever explain how isshin got his powers back after losing them?

Not yet. But probably a way like Ichigo did.

but ichigo lost his powers cause he got stabbed in a certain spot and it was only rukia's powers he lost. not his own latent powers.

I remember him saying something about it finally coming back after 20 years or something, so maybe after final getsuga there's a long ass recharge time?

It has never said he lost his powers. It just said he hasn't taken shingami form in over 20 years. (Since he was in one of Urahara's gigai's, which Rukia was in that hides things/And her spiritaul pressure, example: the Hogyoku) (Most likely) He also knows about Zangestu's/Engestu's final form.

We all just think he lost his powers since he knows about the final form, and Ichgio lost his by using it.


He lost all of his powers when Ginjo took them as far as we know. He no longer has his power that rukia awakened stabbing him. Nor does he have his hollow powers (So it seems) that Urahara forced out of him with his training (His experiment on hollowfication imo). (Since Aizen was able to do it and Urahara knew about it, he obviously wanted to try it out himself). All he has right now is the Qunicy powers that are just now showning up and his Shingami powers he's had all his life.

Bold is just my thoughts on it.

maybe he abandoned them when masaki died.
