I think it's fair to agree that it's simply a dominant gene, I doubt at this point we are going to get more information about the clan system in Naruto... Thatd be something that would have been mentioned long ago

but in order to get cousins, that means they must've married outside the family quite a bit to have that many cousins

when the uchihah and the senju formed the leaf with them all the clans they conquered idk wat chapter it was it was stated so im guessing they fuked those guys to make cousins if that helps at all theyr not all inbredid lol
