I'm glad someone sees it the same way I do.

Zaraki was "asleep in his shell" and what we saw melt away was that "shell." thus he awoke once it "melted."

The only thing that gives credence to the idea of it being a literal melting away, is that Unohana has been hurting and healing him constantly this entire time.


That being said, I also believe it was a figurative melt.

hrm did you forget that she also melted away though and it seemed like her melting away was more complete too. so i dont think it was just in kenpachis mind

Im not saying the mleting didnt have anything to do with her bankai just that the melting away wasnt damaging but probably something like tousens bankai that deals with the 5 senses

i dont think unohana is dead, she is way to epic of a character to have died just like that. I also think that Zaraki isn't some dumbass.
He will obviously notice that he has been blacking out and that he has been getting stronger slightly, he knows unohana was clearly superior at the beginning of the fight
why all of a sudden would he be mundo stronger even with bankai out. Not only that, Unohana hasn't even healed her self one time yet. They training has far more to go.

I also don't think shunsui would even be slightly stupid enough to have zaraki and unohana fight to the death like that.
He will stop the fight before they kill each other because they are both instrumental in the next battle for soul society
Unohana = 3rd best healer in the bleach world, second to that one girl who loves ichigo, and the zero division member
Zaraki = meathead tank obviously stronger then some bullshit sternritter's, also instrumental in the next fight.

plus no one ever dies in this manga, why start now. lol

she has definitely healed once and that was when she mentioned why she became proficient in healing kidou. she has also healed zaraki a bunch of times iirc

hrm i am pretty sure zaraki and of course unohana know the reason for this is training for zaraki lol so yeah im pretty sure her goal is different than his goal.

as for shunsui it could just be the only way to make zaraki stronger... and we can jsut assume his potential outweighs unohanas battle power.

I do believe on some level zaraki was conscious i mean come on we can safely say a bankai even a shikai increases a shinigamis power tenfold he knows neither and the only time we see him wanting to learn was when he had to "stop" fighting, he puts bells etc, basically teaches an enemy duyring a fight so he can enjoy it longer, eyepatch etc etc

Uh no. Skeletal looks symbolize death. When Unohaha used her bankai it seemed that Zaraki realized how strong she is and he overcame the fear of killing her, so he "woke up" and started fighting seriously, becoming "death" and he saw her as death too.

Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to children here.

where did this death thing come from they both already stated they want to kill one another or fear of killing her come from? why would he symbolize her as death? its training which they both know...

and again the person you quote about saying her bankai wasnt the melting quoted my line about it not being literal EVEN if it was her bankai that produced the skelly imagines

i only said that its possible that it was or wasnt her bankai and that had it been her bankai it wasnt a literal melting away

Holy fucking shit did you pay any attention to what happened during the battle? Every single fight Zaraki had since having his first with Unohana as a child he limited his abilities. Now that his shell broke (or melted) he no longer limits his abilities.

and again like i asked you earlier why when his "limiter" was taken off was she also seen as melting away? she didnt have any limit on her abilities...
