Did anyone else think it was odd that Shikamaru caught Madara with the shadow technique?

Meaning Madara can be touched when not visibly looking at an attacker? Everyone else passes through him.

how often do you check your shadow when you're talking? plus he had to solidify himself to pick up the artifacts
