no offence to either of you, but i actually liked the chapter. necessary chapter, at least we have some backside story to this. This is probably the man who created some of the most power zanpakuto. like wait for it. Ryujinjakka. this guy has a huge amount of history in his back pocket. clearly has more then one zapakuto. Does that mean he can have more then 1 bankai? herp derp. come on people. the possibilities are near endless with this guy. my bad if im high and just babbling on but this chapter was extremely good. And Renji and Ichigo are about to get a UPGRADE after this training.

tite was on such a roll, then decided he had to go over the top with this training. ugh.
ill bet half the next chapter will be them looking around, being like wtf, then bam, attacked.
that would have been a much better ending to this chapter, and let him expand more on the shinigami/zanpakuto relationship next time.
with how things are going, i feel like he's either going to rush through this way too fast, or stretch it out into 2 chapters, more than needed.

edit:
also have a question. when ichigo first went into his shinigami form, his zanpakuto was just there, wasn't created. and it was stated that the size of it was related to his reiatsu.
it was also stated that zanpakuto are part of their owner's' soul.
this dude created zanpakutos.

so how was his zanpakuto already there if they need to be created in the first place?

knowing bleach it will be stretched out between 12 chapters. This manga can be a damn turtle at times. Feels like I only read 3 pages each chapter at times.

Yea seems like he is going back to gag/comedy when he doesn't need to :/ and its not even funny
Anyways now we have to wait weeks for the next one not even looking forward to it since I know it won't be that great

They haven't shown Zangetsu since he got his powers back, guess that's because he is either changing or being replaced.

i believe that he wasn't the legitmate creator of zanpakutos.
More like the revolutionary in the field. Anyone can spawn a sword of their reiatsu. Even a dummy like zaraki who could careless about it.
I believe that this is the man who first turned his zanpakuto into whatever he wanted it to be. He is the creator of the possibilities that zanpakuto could become.
He is the one that turned zanpakutos into people, he probably even reformed many of the strongest zapakuto we know today.

of course this is just speculation.
Another thing, i think everyone is a critic here (no offence).
i mean, tite has been a roll lately, and like you said you think he messed up with this chapter, and maybe your right. But you gottta give the man his props.
in the past i'd say 10 mangas, he has progressed the story farther then the past.. i'd say 30-40 before.
In comparison to the past 10, sure this one isn't amazing,but the plot development was good, for all we know he comes out with a bomb ass chapter next week because he explained the whole training situation already. Not only that, in comparison to the shit we had from the aizen saga, this stuff is gold, not platinum, but gold isn't to bad either.

Bleach filer episodes have nothing to do with the story. So anything from there has no connections to the manga.

There has been mulitple people who look like Ichigo and Isshen so obviously they are going to be related somehow.
He said he the sowrd don't like weak hearted owners with no love . Nothing was explained or implied.

Nothing that you said was close to what I posted.

As for the black pit they fell into, lets hope there swords manifest and they must fight like they would in there world to regain control of there swords for breaking them in a bankai state.

1. we already knew that zanpakuto could take human form from when ichigo learned bankai. urahara's method just materialized them forcefully. part of the training was to learn to materialize them. yoruichi even speaks with zangetsu.
2. that's speculation on your part, and as of this point, we have seen nothing that points to his clownish behavior being more than tite attempting humor.
3. they clearly need to train with each member of squad zero. of course they are still going to train and were going to start a new regiment when they went on to the next member
4. yes, this point was only shown in the last two pages, and hinted at in only other chapters, not the beginning/middle pages of this chapter.
5. once again, pure speculation on your part that you are stating as fact. obviously some people are going to resemble other people. it's his style, no way everyone will be completely unique. and tbh, she doesn't look at all like his sisters to me.
6. are you actually arguing that without this chapter, we wouldn't know he's strong? he's in squad zero...

no offense, but cyba was completely right this time, imo. the bulk of the chapter was wasted.

but you have to admit, for the year ending chapter, this was a big let down.
i was expecting a much bigger "cliff" if you will, where I couldn't wait to see what was next.
like with one piece, for example, it looks like we're finally going to get to see one of the show's biggest badasses in action.
here, just a dark area. I mean, just showing the first glimpse of what is going to happen would have been much much better.
really felt like this could have been so much more if tite hadn't focused on making the guy so goofy.

kubo is almost like the king of filler/random nonsense plot anyways, typical shonen .. don't read too deep into it.
